On March 25, 1955, missionaries from the Unevangelised Fields Mission (UFM) and The Asia-Pacific Christian Mission (APCM) arrived in Tolikara, introducing the Gospel to its inhabitants. Their efforts led to the establishment of the Gereja Injili di Indonesia (GIDI), which has since grown to encompass numerous congregations across the region.
