SORONG – In order to improve the creative economy of the community, the Sorong City Tourism Office, Southwest Papua Province built a tourism industry center in the Kamayukwasa Area as an improvement effort.
Head of the Tourism Industry Business Development Division of the Sorong City Tourism Office, Ida Wahyuni explained, the Kamayukwasa Area which has been built and is planned to be inaugurated in February 2025 will become the center of the tourism industry in Sorong City.
“In the area, the community will display culinary products, then there are also dances, information about the potential of natural and artificial tourism, and there is also digital-based tourism promotion,” she explained.
Ida added that to answer the needs of the tourism industry center, her party is working with the local community through capacity building training in various fields. This is done so that the local community can be empowered to become reliable personnel and ready to work in the area.
“In 2024, as many as 160 people have participated in culinary training, electronic-based tourism promotion in order to support the effectiveness of the tourism industry center in Sorong City,” he explained.
With the existence of the area, it is expected to increase the creative economy for Papua and increase the economy in Papua.
