Papua – PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) recorded a net profit of 3.16 billion US dollars or the equivalent of IDR 48.79 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,439 per US dollar) throughout 2023. The profits made last year were also transferred to the regional government in Central Papua Province amounting to IDR 3.35 trillion.
President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia Tony Wenas said that the regional share of the company’s net profits was given to the provincial government, producing districts and other districts in Central Papua Province.
“Regional distribution payments and net profits are a realization of the company’s commitment to encouraging regional government economic improvement,” said Tony in a statement on Thursday (18/04/2024).
He detailed that the distribution of funds amounting to IDR 3.35 trillion was divided between the Central Papua provincial government of around IDR 839 billion and the Mimika Regency government of IDR 1.4 trillion. Meanwhile, other districts in Central Papua Province, namely Nabire, Peniai, Puncak, Puncak Jaya, Dogiyai, Deiyai and Intan Jaya, each received around IDR 160 billion.
In 2023, Freeport Indonesia succeeded in producing 1.65 billion pounds of copper and 1.97 million ounces of gold and from this operational performance, Freeport Indonesia managed to reap a profit of IDR 48.79 trillion. Overall state revenues in the form of taxes, royalties, dividends and other levies will reach more than IDR 40 trillion in 2023, including contributions to the regions reaching more than IDR 9 trillion.
This was done by Tony as President Director of PT Freeport Indonesia so that the company has a positive impact and makes a real contribution to the advancement of the economic development of the local government, especially the Central Papua Provincial Government.
Tony is committed that Freeport Indonesia has contributed directly to the community through the many activities carried out by PT Freeport Indonesia for the community, such as free eye cataract operations and providing free health services to the people of Mimiki Regency at the beginning of last March.
