PAPUA – The Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Office of Central Papua Province distributed assistance to 250 households affected by stunting in Mimika Regency. This assistance was in the form of two egg racks and two sacks of rice (40 kilograms in total) per household, which were symbolically handed over to 10 households in a cheap market operation. The event was held by the Mimika District Food Security Office on Saturday (21/12/2024) in the courtyard of the Eme Neme Yauware Building.
Head of the Food Security Division at the Central Papua Province Agriculture, Food and Fisheries Office, Yosias Pakage, said that this assistance was intended to help families affected by stunting in Mimika. He hopes that this step can contribute to reducing the stunting rate in the region.
“With this assistance in the form of eggs and rice, we hope that people affected by stunting can be helped and the stunting rate in Mimika Regency can decrease,” said Yosias.
The total assistance distributed was 500 sacks of rice (10 tons) and 500 shelves of eggs. After the symbolic handover to 10 families, the distribution to the other 240 families will be carried out by the Mimika Regency Food Security Office at the local Food Security Office.
“The list of recipients of this assistance has been prepared by the Mimika Regency Government. After the symbolic handover, the distribution will be continued by our friends from the Mimika Food Security Office,” Yosias added.
