Jayapura:  PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia or PT PELNI (Persero) supports equitable distribution of education quality in Papua. One form of support is to provide funding for the construction of an education building for prospective Catholic priests in Jayapura Regency.

The assistance was handed over directly by PELNI Jayapura Branch Manager Nurul Azhar to the head of the Fratrum Minorum Order in Jayapura).

PELNI’s Director of Finance and Risk Management, Anik Hidayati, said that providing assistance is a form of PELNI’s attention to improving the quality of education infrastructure in Papua.

“This assistance program is included in PELNI’s TJSL social pillar program in addition to the economic, environmental and legal governance pillars. These four pillars refer to the pillars of the SDG’s or Sustainable Development Goals launched by the United Nations and have been adopted by the Ministry of BUMN into the TJSL Program in all BUMN companies, “said Anik.

She added, the development fund assistance provided was worth Rp.100 million. “We hope that the assistance we provide can provide benefits in providing safe and comfortable infrastructure,” he said.

It is known, currently the Fratum Minorum Sentani Order has seven students who are studying as prospective priests. Previously, TJSL PELNI also provided assistance totaling IDR 175 million for three Hindu houses of worship in Bali.

The assistance was addressed to Pura Dalem Pakerisan, South Denpasar, as well as Pura Panti Ratu Masning and Pura Dalem Pamecutan in Banjar Puseh, both of which are located in Gianyar, Bali.

The assistance for the three temples was distributed by PELNI Denpasar Branch Manager Yusuf Arfah on October 14, 2024 to the religious leaders of each temple.
