PAPUA – Provide maximum health services for indigenous Papuans, especially in Jayapura Regency through the Special Autonomy Fund in 2024. In 2024 the Special Autonomy fund managed by the Yowari Regional General Hospital is intended for health services for indigenous Papuans in Jayapura Regency around Rp 2.5 billion, this was conveyed by the Director of the Yowari Regional General Hospital Petronela Risamasu.
Petronela Risamasu explained that health services provided to indigenous Papuans in Jayapura Regency continue to be optimized with the Special Autonomy fund of around Rp 2.5 billion in 2024.
The use of the Special Autonomy fund allocation of Rp 2.5 billion is for the medical expenses of Indigenous Papuans, health services at the Yowari Regional General Hospital and medical care financing for Indigenous Papuans who must have a Jayapura Regency Population Identification Number and if it does not exist, it will be facilitated.
According to Dr. Petronela, this program is new this year, “In addition to the provision of medicines and medical devices for indigenous Papuans who have a Jayapura Regency Identification Number, the cost of treatment at the Yowari Regional General Hospital will be covered,” he said.
With the allocation of Special Autonomy funds for health services for Indigenous Papuans at Yowari Hospital, most of the patients who are treated and examined for health are 60-70 percent Indigenous Papuans. Dr. Petronela revealed that for patients who enter through the BPJS route, the costs will be borne by BPJS and if there are additional costs that are not covered by BPJS, they can use the funds provided by the Yowari Regional General Hospital.
Dr. Petronela explained that the budget allocation can cover around 1,000 people and this number can vary depending on the type of medical treatment required by each patient, “The existence of a program financed by Special Autonomy funds we are responsible for the entire process of patient treatment at the hospital, starting from the services of specialists, general practitioners, nurses, to pharmacy,” she said.
The existence of Special Autonomy funds for Indigenous Papuans for health services at Yowari Hospital is very helpful, because not all Indigenous Papuan patients who come for treatment at Yowari Hospital have a good economy, so this program is very helpful, “And this program is a very good step in replacing the Social Protection Card program which is no longer valid in Jayapura Regency,” said Dr. Petronela.
Dr. Petronela explained that he has informed the hospital about this program, so that those who want to seek treatment must bring a Jayapura Regency Population Identification Number, which can be obtained through an Identity Card or Family Card (especially for children who do not yet have an Identity Card) and a photo. Dr. Petronela hopes that with this program, the indigenous Papuan community in Jayapura Regency can get better access to medical care to improve the quality of health in Jayapura Regency.
