PAPUA – Tarantula King Basketball Club and Nirmala Beach Biak Hotel, Papua Province collaborated to organize the 3X3 Christmas Nirmala by Tarantula Kings Basketball Tournament to fill the school holidays.
This basketball tournament took place from December 16 to 21, 2024 and was divided into three categories, namely the general category followed by 10 teams from Wamena, Serui, Jayapura and other districts.
“For the women’s category, participants also came from Jayapura and Serui. The student category is only for teams from Biak, because these children are the ones we will orbit to a higher level, “said Muhammad Arfan as the advisor to the Tarantula Kings Club.
Arfan advised that all basketball tournament participants can uphold sportsmanship so that this tournament runs safely and smoothly. “Hopefully what is expected in this tournament can be achieved, especially in developing talents and abilities,” he hoped.
Owner of Nirmala Beach Biak, Julia Rusli, said that by holding a basketball tournament, it can prevent children, especially students, from negative things such as drugs, alcohol and other negative things.
“With a sports event like this, children will be protected from these negative things. In addition, this event can be a forum to produce the best basketball athletes from Biak Numfor,” Julia said.
In the future, she will also provide other sports facilities such as volleyball and there will also be a culinary center around her hotel area.
“We will organize even bigger sports events, involving various parties. I think if all parties collaborate then events like this can be done on a larger scale,” she said.
