MANOKWARI – The Provincial Board (Pengprov) of the Indonesian Tennis Association (Pelti) West Papua expressed its support for the implementation of the Pelti Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub).
This support was conveyed by the Chairman of Pengprov Pelti West Papua, Melkias Werinussa, SE, MH, in his interview with papuadalamberita.com Thursday (2/1/2025).
“Pengprov Pelti West Papua fully supports the implementation of the upcoming Pelti National Conference,” said Melkias Werinussa.
Melkias hopes that the organization of the Pelti National Conference can bring positive changes and progress to the development of tennis in Indonesia, especially in West Papua.
According to him, the Cross-Provincial Communication Forum of the Indonesian Tennis Association (Forkom Lintas Pengprov PELTI) called for an Extraordinary National Conference (Munaslub) to overcome the leadership crisis and organizational governance within the PELTI Central Board (PP PELTI).
This call was conveyed following the results of the Consolidation Meeting which was attended by representatives from 23 PELTI Provincial Administrators (Pengprov) throughout Indonesia with session leaders Mustafa (Central Sulawesi), Rahmadin (NTB), Taufan (Aceh) on December 27-28, 2024 in Jakarta.
This meeting also resulted in the decision to establish the PELTI Cross Pengprov Forkom as a forum for communication and coordination between Pengprov. This forum aims to find strategic solutions to overcome PELTI’s internal problems and prevent further conflict.
“Tennis sports must be a tool to unite the nation, not a field of internal conflict. We hope that the National Conference can be a turning point to restore harmony and encourage better coaching of tennis athletes,” said Rudi Basuki, Coordinator of the PELTI Cross Pengprov Forkom.
Forkom Lintas Pengprov PELTI hopes for full support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) to accelerate the implementation of the National Conference for the advancement of national tennis.
