Jayapura – The closing of the Papua Police Chief Cup Badminton Tournament in commemoration of the 78th Bhayangkara Day and the 79th Indonesian Independence Day took place at the Volta PLN Badminton Field in Jayapura City.
The closing ceremony was led by Karo Ops Polda Papua, Kombes Pol I Ketut Gede Wijatmika, S.I.K., which was also attended by a number of Main Officials of Polda Papua.
In his remarks, Kombes Pol I Ketut Gede Wijatmika expressed his deepest gratitude to the committee and all levels who have organized this activity successfully and festively. He also gave appreciation to all participants who had participated and contributed in enlivening this tournament.
“On behalf of the Papua Police Chief, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all parties involved in the success of this event. This tournament is not just about finding champions, but also about how we can unite, have fun, and celebrate the spirit of sports together,” he said.
This tournament, which is part of a series of commemorations of the 78th Bhayangkara Anniversary and the 79th Indonesian Independence Day, aims to strengthen togetherness and increase enthusiasm and health among police personnel and the community.
Kombes Pol I Ketut Gede Wijatmika also motivated the participants who had not yet won, to keep their spirits up and continue practicing for opportunities in the coming years.
“To those who have not won, don’t be discouraged. Keep practicing, improve yourself, and prepare for the next tournament. Remember, true victory is when we can maintain our health and happiness through sports,” he added.
After delivering his speech, Karo Ops Polda Papua handed over prizes to the winners of the tournament. The Veteran Doubles category was won by Rifai and Aliong, the Men’s Adult Doubles category was won by Nurul and Iqbal, while the Women’s Adult Doubles category was won by Syane and Marlin. In addition, door prizes in the form of refrigerators and other household appliances were also handed over to the lucky winners.
The closing ceremony of the tournament was marked with excitement and enthusiasm, reflecting how sports can be a means to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and maintain mutual health.
