MERAUKE – The statement documents of four prospective pairs of candidates (bapaslon) for Governor and Deputy Governor registered at the South Papua Provincial KPU for the 2024 Regional Election were declared complete. This file has also been processed into the Regional Head Candidacy Information System (Silonkada) of the General Elections Commission (KPU).
The five Bapaslon who registered on August 27-29 previously conducted a medical examination stage and were also declared physically and mentally healthy. The results have been submitted by the Merauke RSU to the South Papua General Election Commission (KPU).
The five Bapaslon are Darius Gebze-Petrus Safan, Apolo Safanpo-Paskalis Imadawa, Romanus Mbaraka-Albertus Muyak, Nikolaus Kondomo-Baidin Kurita, and Berkemas Reynoldus Bapaimu-Agus Salim.
Secretary of the South Papua Provincial KPU, Jimmy Wiranata, said that the four prospective pairs of candidates for governor and deputy governor had made improvements to the required documents within a three-day period from September 6-8, 2024, after the health examination stage.
“The files of all Bapaslon are complete. We have received the submission of the complete documents of the Bapaslon requirements and have uploaded them to Silonkada, both the results of the medical examination and other completeness files,” said Jimmy Winata, Sunday (9/8/2024).
Jimmy Winata said that the South Papua KPU provided an opportunity for the public to submit input and responses to the validity of documents regarding the candidate requirements and candidacy of the 4 Bapaslon scheduled for September 15-21, 2024.
“Especially in Papua, the requirements for candidates for governor and deputy governor must be Indigenous Papuans (OAP). The candidate pair must have a recommendation from the South Papua People’s Assembly (MRPS) regarding Papuan authenticity. The KPU is still waiting for the recommendation,” he concluded.
