Papua also participated in the annual exhibition held on a national scale and attended by all provinces in Indonesia. The name of the exhibition is Karya Kreatif Indonesia which was initiated by Bank Indonesia. The purpose of holding the exhibition is as an economic activity that can encourage inclusive growth, digital transformation, and the development of superior products of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises by increasing brand awareness. The potential that Papua has in terms of creative works is certainly quite large considering that the area has a diversity of tribes that are indigenous people with various cultural products that still exist and continue to be preserved.
Bank Indonesia, Papua Province branch, invited four business products from Papua to participate in the 2024 Karya Kreatif Indonesia exhibition held in Jakarta. The four products are Highland Roastery which is a coffee business, Noken Anniya by bringing the best quality noken products made by handicrafts from indigenous Papuans, Kakao Kita Papua in the form of various Papuan cocoa derivative products such as chocolate, and Sambal Baba to represent Papuan culinary specialties. The four products brought are the results of business actors who are considered to meet the criteria of the exhibition committee and are also superior products that have proven quality and have a sales track record and have also established partnerships with Bank Indonesia in their economic activities.
The 2024 Karya Kreatif Indonesia Exhibition shows how Papua does have superior products that are widely known by the public. This is proven by how the four products that participated in the exhibition managed to reap 100% more profit than a similar exhibition held a year earlier. The amount of profit generated by the Papuan representatives in the 2024 exhibition reached 973 million rupiah. This figure is a record for representatives from Papua who have participated in the exhibition since 2016. The largest income from the four products brought by the Papuan representatives in the 2024 Karya Kreatif Indonesia exhibition was coffee products from Highland Roastery. Green beans produced through organic farming activities have succeeded in getting the attention of coffee entrepreneurs from Japan, namely Kopi Kalyan Japan. As a result, Highland Roastery was asked to send 300 kg of green beans for export to Japan.
The hope of economic actors, especially Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Papua, is that the Karya Kreatif Indonesia exhibition will continue to be held in the future. Bank Indonesia’s success in guiding business actors to be brought to the exhibition and getting big profits certainly adds motivation for the people of Papua to continue to strive to produce products with the best quality that can get a wider market and even export abroad.
