Merauke – In an exclusive interview with Theresia Mahuze, Chairperson of the South Papua Provincial KPU, it was stated that the level of compliance of supporters in the election process shows progress in political education in the region.
When asked in the interview on Friday, (25/10/2024) about the condition of supporters’ compliance, Theresia explained that it was one of the indicators that political education or democracy in South Papua had improved. She added that compared to previous elections and local elections, the current situation in South Papua is fairly conducive, although there are still fluctuations that do not lead to anarchist actions.
“During the nomination stage, starting from registration to the drawing of serial numbers, the peaceful campaign declaration. The technical matters that we conveyed to the LO (Liaison Officer) of each candidate pair, the rules, regulations, and so on were really obeyed,” said Theresia. She hopes that this compliance can be maintained until voting day, in the hope that the entire process can take place safely and orderly.
“We certainly all hope that this process can run smoothly, it is also safe of course, and finally it must be safe,” he said.
With this statement, the South Papua Provincial KPU shows optimism that political education in the region has experienced significant improvement, creating hope for better elections in the future.
