West Papua PWI Billiards athletes succeeded in donating three medals for West Papua Province in the XIVth National Journalist Sports Week (PORWANAS) arena which took place at Master Pool, Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan (South Kalimantan), on Saturday (22/8/2024).
This medal was donated by a duo of billiard athletes from the West Papua PWI contingent, Risfandi Aris Tangke and Rahmat Fajar, in the single 8 ball and double 8 or double pair.
Noted, there are three silver medals packed by billiards sports athletes to make the West Papua PWI contingent, quite proud, in the prestigious event of the journalist profession at the XIV National Journalist Sports Week (Porwanas).
The first silver medal was obtained by West Papua athlete, Risfandi Tangke, in the final round bet against PWI Central Sulawesi (Sulteng) athlete Harly Pratama Renggah, who was previously the incumbent gold medalist in the single 9 ball number.
And for the double 8 ball party when hosting the West Java (Jabar) PWI athlete team, Dadang Gunawan and Hardiansyah in the final, the West Papua PWI billiards team, Risfandi Tangke and Rahmat Fajar, also had to settle for being second or confirming two silver medals, with a final score of 3: 5.
As is known, the appearance and journey of the PWI West Papua billiards duo in the Porwanas XIV event was not easy. The two journalists as well as the regional bureau in the papua media garda, had to deal with a number of tough billiards and medal subscription incumbents in other Porwanas events, before finally being called a “dark horse” in this prestigious sports event.
But from tenacity and hard work and never giving up to be determined to make West Papua proud, making the West Papua PWI Billiards Duo, Risfandi Aris Tangke and Rahmat Fajar, undaunted, and showing a positive trend in the prestigious professional sports event, in the Single Ball 8 race number Age 27 years and over, and Double Ball 8 Age 27 years and over. As is known, Risfandi Aris Tangke and Rahmat Fajar themselves are journalists and regional media bureaus.
“In principle, we really appreciate the efforts and achievements of friends who have made maximum efforts in the porwanas event this time, so that it is proven that they can make achievements through the achievement of three silver medals in billiards sports,” said Gustavo Wanma.
Gustavo then continued, that through the struggle of the XIVth Porwanas this time, it is hoped that it will become a serious record of both the management of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of West Papua, and specifically the West Papua Provincial Government, in order to help provide attention and coaching support for professional athletes who always strive for maximum in events for national sports coaching.
“So with the achievement of achievements in Porwanas South Kalimantan being a benchmark. It is also our hope, so that in the future the athletes who want to be involved in the Porwanas event as well, must be able to make maximum efforts to prepare themselves according to their field of talent, besides that they also need to hone their talents and forge mentally ready to face opponents, “he said.
