Regional Selection, ALTI Papua Barat Daya Targets to Win FORNAS VIII in NTB in 2025

SORONG – The Indonesian Trail Running Association (ALTI) of Southwest Papua Province (PBD) held a selection of the best participants who will be sent to participate in the upcoming National Community Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS) West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) 2025.

The regional selection activity held on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at Koramil 1802-02 Sorong received serious support from the Southwest Papua Provincial Government through the Youth and Sports Office.

The regional selection committee succeeded in selecting around 100 participants in preparation for the 2025 National Community Recreational Sports Festival (FORNAS) in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).

The 100 participants consisted of two age categories, 18-39 years old and 40 years old and above. The determination of this category aims to provide a fair opportunity for all running activists, the target is 12 champions consisting of 6 general category champions and 6 master category champions.

According to the data obtained, the route traveled along 12 KM by passing through 2 mountains whose roads are quite challenging. With a fighting spirit, the participants managed to pass the obstacles to the finish line.

Irfan Zulfikar, chairman of the committee, said there would be more preparation for the winners in preparation for Fornas 2025.

“We will train the winners to prepare themselves more carefully for FORNAS because our target for Southwest Papua must be the champion,” he concluded.

Irfan also said that not only ALTI but there are 7 other types of sports that also conduct selection and prepare themselves towards FORNAS VIII NTB 2025 in NTB.

Irfan hopes that participants who win or pass the selection to better prepare themselves by continuing to practice and get enough rest, because unlike other runners ALTI passes a fairly challenging path, namely running in cross-country, and it requires endurance and good physical condition.
