Wasisi dance is a traditional dance of the Migani tribe in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Province. The traditional dance of the Migani tribe is still maintained and preserved to this day.

In various cultural events or spiritual activities of the Migani tribe who live in various districts or cities in Papua, Waisisi is always played by Migani people or residents. The dance is present to fill or enliven events or parties in the community so that the atmosphere becomes more lively and festive.

Parishioners of St. Michael Bilogai Parish, Moni Deanery, Puncak Jaya, Timika Diocese, Tuesday (31/8) were immersed in the Wasisi dance as they flocked to hand over the mandatory donation of money worth 130,000.00 (one hundred and thirty million rupiah) in Bilogai. The congregation voluntarily handed over the money in order to help the New Priest Ordination committee at Michael Bilogai Parish, Moni Deanery.

The compulsory donation of the people of Stasi Yoparu comes from several parties, including those who have excess. The congregation of Stasi Yoparu, for example, donated IDR 40,000.00 (forty million rupiah). In addition, donations also came from Apolos Bagau, a parishioner and local figure who donated Rp 90,000,000 (twenty million rupiah) so that the total donation for the committee was Rp 130,000,00 (one hundred and thirty million rupiah).

“This is a clear proof of the support and enthusiasm of the people to be able to carry out the New Priest Ordination event at St. Michael Bilogai Parish. It’s amazing,” said Alpius Nambagani, Chairman of the Second Committee for the Ordination of New Priests.

Alpius Nambagani expressed his gratitude to the people and the concern of Apolos Bagau as a Papuan figure and intellectual for their hard work and love so as to provide cash donations for the success of the ordination of new priests who will work to serve the people and society in Papua or wherever the new priests are missioned when sent.

He hopes that the people of other stations or parishes who have not collected the mandatory cash donation as decided by the committee can immediately take part in the success of the ordination event.

“The peak of the priestly ordination is getting closer. We hope that the participation of the people in this event in the form of mandatory donations will be realized soon. This spiritual activity still requires the involvement of the community so it is hoped that the community will be more active so as to help the committee succeed the ordination event,” he said.
