PAPUA – The Papua-wide free lunch program will begin at the end of January 2025. Gerindra Spokesperson Rahayu Saraswati Djojohadikusumo, who is also Deputy Chairperson of Commission VII of the House of Representatives, revealed that the free lunch program will be implemented throughout Papua at the end of January.
“The information we received, this program will begin at the end of January. However, for all of Papua, it is likely that not all points will be reached, because there are still adjustments in its implementation,” Rahayu said after visiting one of the kitchens, Monday (13/1/2025).
Rahayu explained that the Central Government is still trying to increase the State Budget (APBN) and continue to encourage Indonesia’s economic growth, so that this free lunch program can reach all regions.
She also said that the program will involve 48,000 healthy kitchens across Indonesia, where each kitchen will serve around 3,000 people, with 40 to 50 people per kitchen.
“The lunch portion will be adjusted to the price of raw materials in each region. In addition, the opening of these healthy kitchens is also expected to create jobs in each region,” he concluded.
