The simultaneous regional head elections in Indonesia are getting closer to their implementation. The agenda held at the end of 2024 has started to enter the campaign period after the ballot numbers of the participants or candidate pairs have been determined. The establishment and drawing of ballot numbers was carried out in the yard of the Central Papua Provincial General Election Commission Office located at A. Gobai Road, Girimulyo Village, Nabire Regency, Central Papua on Monday, September 23rd, 2024. The establishment and drawing were attended directly by the candidate pairs and led by the Chairperson of the Central Papua Provincial General Election Commission.
The guests who attended the establishment and drawing of the ballot numbers of the candidate pairs participating in the simultaneous regional head elections were highly optimistic about all parties who had a role in the success of the election. The series of activities and verification to determine the candidate pairs have at least been completed with the drawing of ballot numbers and establishment. This means that the candidate pairs who will compete in the general election later have met all the requirements given and complied with the existing rules so that it is certain that they are regional head candidates who have passed the competency test from the General Election Commission. The public also does not need to worry about who will be elected later because it is guaranteed that there will be no elements of fraud in accordance with the principles of general elections in Indonesia, namely direct, general, free, secret, honest, and fair.
The results of the establishment and drawing of the candidate pairs’ ballot numbers for the regional head elections in Central Papua Province consist of four candidate pairs. The ballot number four is Wilem Wandik and Alousius Giyai. The ballot number three is Meky Nawipa and Deinas Geley. The ballot number two is Natalis Tabuni and Titus Natkime. The ballot number one is Jhon Wempi Wetipo and Ausilius You. After the establishment and drawing were carried out, the campaign period officially began. The Central Papua Provincial Election Commission immediately held a closed meeting to prepare for the next steps after the establishment and drawing were completed.
Entering the campaign period, of course all parties hope that this period will be a good political education event for the public. The four candidate pairs have an equally large chance of being elected depending on how they maximize the campaign process. The public is also urged to remain orderly during the campaign period and the Central Papua Provincial Election Commission hopes that the candidate pairs will also carry out their campaigns in an orderly manner. So that the process of organizing the regional head elections to be held in November will run smoothly and whoever is elected is the best choice who can later lead the Central Papua Province according to the hopes of the people from the beginning to the end of their leadership.
