In a significant milestone for the province, 50 students from Papua Selatan have been selected as members of the Flag Raising Team (Pasukan Pengibar Bendera Pusaka/Paskibraka) for August 1st, 2025. This selection marks a pivotal moment in the region’s commitment to fostering national pride and discipline among its youth.
The announcement was made by Deputy Governor Paskalis Imadawa during the closing ceremony of the provincial Paskibraka selection at Hotel Corein in Merauke on May 28, 2025. Imadawa emphasized that these students, hailing from Merauke, Asmat, Mappi, and Boven Digoel, represent the future of Papua Selatan’s patriotic spirit. He encouraged them to embrace the upcoming training with dedication and enthusiasm.
The selection process, which began on May 25 with participant check-ins, included health screenings on May 26 and the main selection events from May 26 to 28. The rigorous process ensured that only the most qualified students were chosen to represent the province.
Among the selected, six students have been nominated for the national Paskibraka selection in Jakarta. From this group, two will have the honor of representing Papua Selatan at the national level, while the remaining four will serve as reserve members, ready to step in if needed.
This initiative not only highlights the region’s dedication to national unity but also provides the youth with an opportunity to develop leadership skills, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility. As these 50 students embark on their journey as Paskibraka members, they carry with them the hopes and pride of Papua Selatan, standing tall as symbols of commitment and patriotism.
