Papua Mountains, Wamena – The Indonesian Chess Association (PERCASI) of Papua Mountains Province, only sent one athlete to the XXI Aceh – North Sumatra (North Sumatra) National Sports Week (PON) event. The Papua Mountains chess athlete is currently participating in 2 categories of competition, namely for the fast chess and standard chess categories.
Daily Chairman of PERCASI Papua Pegunungan, Max Hattu said, 2 categories of competition followed by chess athletes Papua Pegunungan, both have the opportunity to win the championship. For the fast chess category, Papua Mountains athletes are currently entering round 7 (seven) of the 9 (nine) rounds competed, and are temporarily in first place with the highest number of points.
“For standard chess the chances of our athletes are even better, because we are just waiting for 2 more wins to be able to get a gold medal,” said Max Hattu.
To achieve maximum results, it is hoped that there will be prayer support from all the people of Papua Mountains, so that chess athletes competing in PON can give the best results. “We PERCASI Papua Mountains ask for prayer support to all the people of Papua Mountains, so that our athletes can achieve maximum results,” he hoped.
Mountainous Papua chess athletes who were deployed at PON XXI Aceh – North Sumatra, to take part in 2 categories of competition, namely, Taufik Halay. PON XXI 2024 chess venue, held at Mikie Holiday Resort & Hotel, Karo Regency.
