SORONG, WEST PAPUA DAYA – The 2024 Regional Head General Election is getting closer and it is the responsibility of the entire community to run well and successfully so that in the end they get a Leader and Representative in the region who are loved by their people, so all the processes leading up to this election must be well prepared by the government and also the organizers of the Regional Head General Election, namely the General Election Commission and the Election Supervisory Board and related stakeholders, therefore Kesbangpol Southwest Papua Province held a Coordination Meeting related to the readiness of the implementation of simultaneous regional elections in 2024 which took place at the Aston Sorong Hotel for a day, which was attended by:
- All regional leaders in five districts and one city,
- Chairman of the General Election Commission,
- Chairman of the Election Supervisory Board in Southwest Papua Province,
- Director General of Politics and General Government,
- Togap Simangunsong.
In his remarks, he said that the Regional Head General Election Readiness Coordination Meeting was a continuation of the previous Coordination Meeting held in Jayapura some time ago and Togap Pun conveyed several indicators that made the Regional Head General Election a success, namely first we hope that it is safe and smooth according to applicable rules, then high voter participation, and no conflicts occur, “what we are doing today is a continuation of the meeting we had in Jayapura some time ago, and the election can be successful that we hope together to be safe and smooth according to applicable rules, then high voter participation is expected, and no conflicts occur.” said Tohap.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, Dr. Drs. Drs Mohammad Musa’ad, Msi in his remarks said that the special values that form the basis of the Papua Special Autonomy Law should be a guide for us to succeed in the implementation of the November Regional Head General Election, namely how important ethical and moral protection, protection of human rights, basic protection of indigenous rights, “The Regional Head General Elections that we will carry out, we should be guided by the principles that are the basis of the Special Autonomy Law in Papua, namely how important ethical and moral protection, protection of human rights, basic protection of indigenous rights, rule of law, maturity of democracy.”
The Coordination Meeting on Readiness for the Implementation of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head General Election in South West Papua ended with the Signing of the Declaration of Safe and Peaceful Pilkada by all invited guests and regional leaders in five regencies and one city in Southwest Papua.
