Jayapura – A total of 17 creation dance teams passed the final in the dance competition initiated by the Papua Provincial Culture and Tourism Office, through the Creative Economy sector, at Papua Youth Creative, Abepura, Jayapura City, on Wednesday (25/9/2024).
Committee chairman Boni Asso said the teams previously participated in the preliminary stage on September 16-19, 2024 which took place at Kotaraja Autonomous Office Field, Abepura, Jayapura City.
“So in this final [which studio] won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place was judged by a team of judges. In this champion category there is a favorite champion, and a team champion chosen by the jury,” he said.
Asso explained that his party chose the favorite champion, as a form of appreciation because they had taken part in performing their dance art. The favorite champion was given an award of Rp 2 million.
Asso, who also serves as Head of the Creative Economy Division at the Papua Province Culture and Tourism Office, said that his party had provided a prize for the first winner of Rp 16 million, second place Rp 14 million, third place Rp 12 million. Meanwhile, the first runner-up is Rp 9 million, the second runner-up is Rp 7 million and the third runner-up is Rp 6 million.
“Other teams that don’t win, we will still give a prize of IDR 2 million, so after giving the prize to the winning team, then the team that doesn’t win we will still give the prize,” he said.
Asso said, those who get the Rp 2 million prize will be taxed at 7 percent if they do not have an NPWP. Meanwhile, studios that already have an NPWP are taxed at around 5 percent.
“We will hand over the prize on September 27, 2024. As well as celebrating World Tourism Anniversary,” he said.
The 17 teams are Fele Reymay Sentani Studio, Feuw Henna Imea Sentani Studio, Iriani Abepura Studio, Karesun Byak Art Studio, Garuda Dok VIII Studio, Cenderawasih Aspol Studio, Saireri Bhayangkara Studio, Vans Palara Kamkey Abepura Studio, Tipioo Dok VIII Studio, and Cenderawasih Kemiri Sentani Studio.
SMU N 5 Jayapura, Sanggar Maremi Biak Regency, Sanggar Kombaki Keerom Regency, Sanggar Botenang Kampung Harapan, Sanggar Bintang Fajar Yoka, Sanggar Dispar Mamberamo Raya, and Kawasa Kamasan Waena.
The trainer of Kombaki Art Studio, Anjas Aibuy, said that his party was happy with the organizers of the competition. They were invited to enliven the event, but they do not have a legal entity.
“It’s just that I’m a little upset because every event we try to do on our own without any help from the government from the relevant agencies in Keerom Regency, but I’m always optimistic because I’m an art worker myself,” he said.
Aibuy said that every competition event they participated in, the local government never paid attention to his studio. According to him, in Keerom Regency there are only two active studios, namely the Kombaki Art Studio, and the Genotari Studio.
“We have formed Sanggar Kombaki since 2017 until now to foster the younger generation, because we love Papuan culture, we must preserve the culture that exists in Papua,” he said.
