Papua – Back again Papua Mountains Province won 2 gold medals from the Exhibition of Sports Branches (Sports) skateboarding PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra.
The 2 gold medals were donated by two little athletes from Papua Mountains, Jagaditya Amani Nurima and Mikhayla Shanum Caya, in the Skateboard exhibition match in the park category, which took place in Pidie district, Aceh Province, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 afternoon.
The two gold medals were witnessed by the Governor of Papua Mountains, Velix Wanggai. “I’m very happy to get a gold medal,” said Jagaditya Amani Nurima when asked by the media crew about how it felt to get a gold medal.
In the same place, Mikhayla Shanum Caya also expressed that she did not expect to win first place and could get a gold medal.
Meanwhile, the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains, Velix Wanggai gave high appreciation to the 2 little athletes, because they had made Papua Mountains proud at PON XXI Aceh-Sumut.
Velix Wanggai said, these two little athletes are students who are still in elementary school or elementary school, but they can both compete in the national sports arena and can also win gold medals for Papua Mountains, which is something very extraordinary.
“As a form of appreciation, we will give a little bonus to both of them, and we will make a small activity related to Skateboard Sports in Papua Mountains which will be attended directly by our two children, with the aim of motivating children in Papua Mountains,” said Velix Wanggai.
Velix Wanggai explained, the 2 gold medals donated by these two children, added to the list of gold medals for Papua Mountains to seven gold medals.
“So far we have won five gold medals, and now we have added two more from the Skateboard Sports exhibition, so the total is seven gold medals and two bronze medals for the latest data. Given that there are several more sports that are still competing, it does not rule out the possibility of additions, “said Velix.
Velix expressed his gratitude to Papuan Mountain athletes who have made the region proud and who are still competing. Not to forget, Velix also expressed his gratitude to all the people of Papua Mountains who always support in prayer.
It is known, There are as many as 20 contingents who participated in the exhibition match of PON XXI Aceh-North Sumatra 2024 skateboard sports. In the skateboard exhibition competed 4 numbers, namely men’s and women’s street skateboarding and men’s and women’s skateboarding game of skate. Total 20 contingent is a requirement from the central KONI to be competed in the next PON in 2028 to come.
