PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – Create superior Human Resources (HR) in the world of sports, especially soccer. The Provincial Association (Asprov) PSSI Papua Pegunungan took the initiative to hold a national C3 Referee and national D Coach training course, which took place in the capital city of Papua Pegunungan Province, namely in Wamena.
Participants in this activity were attended by representatives from all districts in the Papua Mountains Province, which lasted for one week without the support of the Regional Government, both the Provincial Government and the Regency Government, but the activities could be carried out well and successfully.
General Secretary of the PSSI Papua Mountains Provincial Association, John Purun, S.IP said that his party took the initiative to conduct the training to overcome four very basic problems in the world of soccer, which have not been resolved in Papua Mountains, namely:
- Institutionalization,
- Human Resources,
- Infrastructure,
- Competition.
“The first issue is institutional, we have to tidy up the Provincial Association and the PSSI Regency Association in all districts in Papua Mountains, where we form the Basic Bylaws and we also have to define the management. Because it has been decades, Asprov and Askab PSSI in Papua Mountains have never been established until 2024, the second problem is Human Resources, in Human Resources there are three things, namely, Human Resources for referees, coaches and players. So that in the future there is competition in the Papua Mountains, there is no need to bring in Human Resources from outside. The third is infrastructure, namely the stadium. This is important because, if we want to make a match without a stadium it is impossible, so on this occasion we thank the Provincial government for budgeting funds to prepare a soccer stadium, the fourth issue is competition. There are a number of competitions that can be held in Papua Mountains, for example such as League Three competitions, Suratin Cup, Pertiwi Cup and so on, it can be held if the institutions, Human Resources, and infrastructure are there, that’s why this activity was held by the Provincial Association of PSSI Papua Mountains on an initiative without hoping for government support, “said John.
Meanwhile, Heru as a representative of the coach brought in by the Papua Mountains PSSI Provincial Association to train referees and coaches from eight districts said that his party saw that the children of Papua Mountains had good potential and in practicing their enthusiasm was very high, so it was hoped that there needed to be competitions that were held regularly, so that they were involved to be able to continue to develop their abilities as coaches and referees, “of course we hope that this activity does not end here but there must be a continuation, namely the only thing to develop them is, there is a continuous competition. Because the existence of competitions that are held regularly will make them develop very quickly, so it is hoped that there is a need for support from the government,” Heru said.
