PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – The Provincial Government of Papua Mountains through the Social Service again handed over 10 tons of rice aid for victims of landslides that occurred in three districts, namely:

  1. Yahukimo Regency as many as 5 districts,
  2. Bintang Mountains as many as 5 districts,
  3. Nduga Regency as much as 1 district.

The assistance was handed over directly by the Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Mountains, Wasuok Demianus Siep in the courtyard of the Governor’s office. This assistance was symbolically handed over to each representative of the three districts that experienced landslides.

The rice assistance that was handed over was:

  1. Pegunungan Bintang Regency as much as 5 tons,
  2. Yahukimo and Nduga each 2 tons.

The distribution of this aid to the disaster site is charged to the Regency Government escorted by representatives of landslide victims.

Acting Regional Secretary of Papua Mountains Province, Wasuok Demianus Siep said the Government prepared this assistance because there was a disaster and but the mechanism according to Acting Regional Secretary Demianus Siep, the Regents must report to the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains who then conveyed to the Central Government through the Ministry of Social Affairs and the National Disaster Management Agency so that assistance from the Center could be channeled, “sometimes the assistance provided by the Central Government touches directly to the Regency and while the initial assistance from the Central Government of Papua Mountains lowered 10 tons of rice for Pegubin, Yahukimo and Nduga Regencies,” Demianus said.

Demianus Siep said, the aid was handed over in Wamena which would later be distributed to the disaster points charged to the District Governments of Pegubin, Yahukimo and Nduga, “We hope that this assistance is not in vain or falls elsewhere, but must be right on target to victims of landslides and residents affected by conflict, because the data is from there and the aid must be from there,” said Demianus.

In the same place, the Head of the Social Service of Papua Mountains Province, Hasuka Hisage stated that the assistance provided was only in the form of rice, where 9 tons of rice were distributed to victims of natural disasters in three districts and while another 1 ton would be given to those displaced by conflicts between residents in Wamena, Papua Mountains.
