One month before the 14th National Journalists Sports Week, all Indonesian Journalists Associations in each province are starting to prepare. The Central Papua Province branch of the Indonesian Association is no exception. Various types of competitions are included in Journalists’ Sports Week. Starting from badminton, bridge, chess, table tennis, tennis, futsal, and several other sports. The Indonesian Journalists Association team from Central Papua Province plans to send its contingent to take part in several sports, one of which is futsal. For this reason, routine training was held initiated by the Sports Journalists Section of Central Papua Province to invite journalists there to practice futsal ahead of the competition.

The sports week event held on a national scale is the result of a national forum agreement which was attended by all journalists in Indonesia. So that when it is held, the participants are really journalists who have gone through several stages of verification. It is also hoped that the sports week event that will be held will be more of a joint sporting event as well as a gathering place for journalists from all provinces in Indonesia.

Even though it is considered a gathering event, the packaging of the National Journalist Sports Week still complies with operational standards and national regulations. Medals were also offered to the winners. The Futsal Team representing the Central Papua Province branch of the Indonesian Journalists Association has a fairly high target for the futsal sport, namely winning a gold medal.

The desire to win a gold medal must also be followed by efforts in the form of routine training carried out by the Futsal Team of the Indonesian Journalists Association, Central Papua Province branch. They carry out routine training on a futsal field in Nabire. Regular training is attended by all team members aged 27 to 40 years. This age range is the average age of journalists who have been verified and registered with the Indonesian Journalists Association. There is even another category, namely over 41 years of age, so that senior journalists can take part in several of the sports being contested.

It is hoped that sufficient preparation over a long period of time will produce the desired results, namely a gold medal for the futsal branch. The Regional Government of Central Papua Province is also expected to take part in providing support. Because when the gold medal is won, all the elements in Central Papua Province will feel proud. So support from the Regional Government in any form will be appreciated. Starting from funding assistance for all training and departure costs, as well as other assistance such as providing complete training facilities in preparation for upcoming competitions. Support and prayers are also needed from all people in Central Papua Province, because the Central Papua Province branch of the Indonesian Journalists Association will fight to bring a good name to their province.
