The candidate pairs for Governor and Deputy Governor in the Province of South West Papua have been ratified and have even been given a serial number that determines which number will be their identity during the general election process. Thus, the campaign period has officially begun and can be implemented by the candidate pairs to get as many votes as possible until the election day. The General Election Commission has explained the rules of the game that must be understood and obeyed by the candidate pairs during the campaign period and the community has been given education for a long time. So of course peace in the community is certainly maintained during the campaign period.
The experience of holding a general election at the beginning of the year to elect the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia has been felt by the people in the Province of South West Papua. However, the experience of electing a new regional head will only be felt in November because this province is one of the New Autonomous Regions in the Republic of Indonesia. So that the enthusiasm of the community is very high. Moreover, there is Special Autonomy that applies throughout Papua, namely the leader who has the right to lead the community in the province is an Indigenous Papuan. Therefore, a sense of pride because they will choose a leader from among their own community is inevitable. Whoever is elected later, it is certain that they are the best Papuan natives and agreed upon by the entire community to lead Papua towards a better direction in the future.
The Regional Government of South West Papua Province assisted by the General Election Commission, State Civil Apparatus, and also the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian National Army will work hard to maintain peace and conduciveness in society ahead of the regional head elections. They also expect the active role of the community to be able to help create an ideal atmosphere and healthy competition between candidate pairs. After the success of the general election at the beginning of the year which elected the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, of course it is also hoped that there will be success in the regional head elections at the end of the year which will elect the Governor and Deputy Governor of South West Papua Province.
The hope of the community during the general election period, especially during the campaign period, is that the candidate pairs can compete fairly and not aim to take votes from the community by doing undesirable things. The community who have received political education from the General Election Commission also understands what is and is not allowed to be done during the campaign period. So that when there is a violation, the community has the right to report it to the authorities for further action. The hope is of course to create a democratic celebration that can be enjoyed by all people in choosing their leaders.
