MANOKWARI, WEST PAPUA – Bank Indonesia West Papua in collaboration with the Provincial Governments of West Papua and Southwest Papua, is organizing the Torang Creative Ecotourism Festival 2024 and the festival aims to promote ecotourism-based tourism in West Papua and encourage creative economic growth in the region.
Acting Regional Secretary of West Papua, Yakob Fonataba together with the Head of Bank Indonesia West Papua representative, Setian at a press conference at one of Manokwari’s leading hotels explained that it is estimated that hundreds of micro, small and medium enterprises will participate in this festival.
They will showcase a variety of superior products, such as handicrafts, Papuan specialties, and other ecotourism products and in addition, there will also be various arts and cultural performances, traditional competitions, and talk shows about ecotourism, “67 leading MSME players from West Papua will showcase their products at the 2024 creative and ecotourism festival, at this event it is also a forum for the community to channel their interests and talents through competitions that are presented, so as to spark public interest in the creative industry,” said Acting Regional Secretary Fonataba.
The West Papua Provincial Government together with Bank Indonesia encourages tourism potential in tourist villages in Kaimana Regency, Sisir Pond will become a pilot project for digital tourism village development and has food security to control inflation, “this activity, will begin with an opening ceremony which will be attended by the Acting Governor of West Papua and the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua along with Forkopimda ranks,” said Acting Regional Secretary Fonataba.
The head of Bank Indonesia’s West Papua representative, Setian added, the synergy event between Bank Indonesia and the West Papua and Southwest Papua Provincial Governments will be held annually in various regions and in 2024 there are around 180 micro, small and medium enterprises that register consisting of 67 micro, small and medium enterprises of West Papua and 113 micro, small and medium enterprises of Southwest Papua.
At this Festival, at the exhibition of micro, small and medium enterprises, there were booths that provided one rupiah QRIS, door prize draws, performances by two well-known artists namely Mario G Klau and Wiss Baker.
In addition to the exhibition of micro, small and medium enterprises, this annual Festival is open to the public and is enlivened:

- Cultural attractions,
- Fun walk,

- Zumba
Various competitions such as:
- Photo competition,
- Video,
- Mobile legends e-sport competition,
- Dance and journalism competitions.
The festival is also expected to have a positive impact on the local economy. In addition to increasing the income of micro, small and medium enterprises, the festival can also help create jobs and increase public awareness about the importance of preserving nature.
