The Association of Regency Governments throughout Indonesia is holding an exhibition in Jakarta in July 2024. This exhibition is an opportunity to build friendship and closeness between communities, especially local governments at the Regency level throughout Indonesia without exception. What is presented in this exhibition are all the resources owned by a district, including its economic potential. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are certainly an advantage possessed by various districts, including Sorong Regency which is located in Papua. The resources owned by Sorong Regency were presented in this exhibition and proved successful in attracting the interest of many visitors so that they received appreciation in the form of General Champion at this exhibition.
The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises displayed by representatives of Sorong Regency at the Association of Regency Governments of Indonesia exhibition were quite diverse. However, what attracts visitors’ attention the most is how they market the daily food ingredients used by people in Sorong Regency for cooking. Starting from Wedang Ginger, Mie Satu, Bark Tea, and the one that gets the most attention is Garam Mipa. All of this is made naturally by utilizing the natural resources available in Sorong Regency. Visitors are interested because even though the product is available where they come from, the ingredients originating from Papua produce a unique taste that can be said to be tastier than what is usually consumed. So the visitors bought up what was available at the stand in Sorong Regency.
The General Champion was won after Sorong Regency succeeded in getting the best assessment from the jury, judging by the Best Stand and Most Favorite Stand. The unique thing that was displayed apart from the products offered as part of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was how representatives from Sorong Regency tried to present a stand in the form of a traditional Papuan house. Visitors are also curious to feel the sensation of being in a typical Papuan traditional house and take several photos as souvenirs. Apart from the traditional house whose reference comes from the Malamoi tribe, the stand guards also wear costumes in the form of traditional clothing, namely Bagu with a crown that complements it.
The hope of the representatives of Sorong Regency after participating in the exhibition at the 2024 Association of Indonesian Regency Governments is that the people who attend as visitors will be able to find out what they have. It is hoped that the products produced by community Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in Sorong Regency can also reach potential markets in Jakarta and throughout Indonesia. The stand in the form of a traditional house also attracts people to come visit Papua directly so they can see the original shape of the traditional house and automatically increase tourist visits. The economic potential that exists in Sorong Regency is introduced to all of Indonesia through this exhibition.
