Mountainous Papua Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Revival Encouraged by National Craft Council

PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – In order to mobilize the potential of the creative economy based on socio-culture in the people of Papua Mountains, the Daily Chairperson of the National Crafts Council, Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian together with the Chairperson of the National Crafts Council Business Management Mrs. Sri Suparni Bahlil and the board of the Organization of Solidarity Action Era of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Mrs. Ernawati Trenggono visited Wamena, Papua Mountains Province, when arriving at Wamena airport, the group of the Era Solidarity Action Organization was welcomed by mama-mama and children dancers who handed over noken and Kurulu flowers.

This visit has a deep meaning for craftsmen who are still on the micro, small and medium scale of Papuan Mountains, in improving and improving the quality of production as well as in expanding market access to the wider public, for this reason, the National Crafts Council held a consultation forum to improve Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises which was attended by around 500 mama-mama craftsmen who are mostly noken businesses with various noken designs, batik bags, clothes, t-shirts from noken materials, and woven rattan.

The forum event was held at Elshaday Church, which ended with an exhibition of 8 booths from the National Craft Council of 8 districts, from the micro, small and medium enterprise forum event at Elshaday Church Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian and Mrs. Sri Bahlil visited YPPGI Napua Elementary School and Kingmi Church in Tanah Papua, in the Napua area, Jayawijaya.

Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian who is also the Chairperson of the Family Empowerment and Welfare Movement Team, provided social assistance to representatives of mothers in Napua District, the assistance was in the form of shoes and school equipment to around 300 Napua Elementary School students and saw BPJS Health services and provided polio immunization to infants and children aged 0 to 7 years, considering that currently the provision of polio immunization is part of the national polio immunization movement throughout Indonesia.

In the Kingmi Napua Church area, Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian together with other Ministers’ mothers, greeted mothers who were roasting chicken and wam by opening the results of stone burning and of course this was a valuable experience for Mrs. Tito Karnavian, Mrs. Bahlil and Mrs. Trenggono and guests from Jakarta and in addition to opening the results of stone burning, the delegates enjoyed the results of stone-grilled chicken together in the courtyard of the Kingmi Napua Church with a beautiful mountainous natural background. In addition, Mrs. Tito Karnavian inaugurated the volleyball court of Mrs. KIM Cabinet and the tourist monitoring bridge built in the yard of YPPGI Napua Elementary School.

At the end of her visit, Mrs. Tri Tito Karnavian, visited the Asakusa city forest tourist attraction and in this tourist area, witnessed the Noken Street Fashion show by Jayawijaya models and during this visit, greeted coffee activists both Denni Jigibalom, Frengki Gombo, Moses Jigibalom, and Papuan Children’s Trail Coffee activist, Jimmi Kogoya.

In the view of the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains Velix Wanggai, explained that Papua Mountains has a specific uniqueness of 8 districts. The socio-cultural-based creative economy is very attached to the basis of the mountainous community, especially noken and in addition, the potential for agricultural commodities, both horticulture and coffee which are export-oriented abroad, “For this reason, a comprehensive approach from upstream to downstream, both from planting to marketing, is a concern of the Provincial Government of Papua Mountains,” said Velix Vernando Wanggai.

It is hoped that the Central Government needs to intensely strengthen the Inclusive Partnership Movement for micro, small and medium enterprises to upgrade in the Papua Mountains.
