Family economy is one of the focuses for the local government of South West Papua Province to be able to improve the welfare of the community. The family economy in question is how the local government ensures an increase in income in a family so that it reaches a level of prosperity. In order to realize a family economy that continues to increase, the local government invites the community in South West Papua Province to participate in a training program initiated by the Vocational Education and Productivity Center. One area that is a mainstay in improving the family economy is the automotive training program that can be followed by the community, both teenagers, men, and even women. Approximately 35 people were included in the program with the aim of providing skills so that they can overcome several automotive problems.
The automotive training program implemented for the people of South West Papua Province has the ultimate goal of providing capital to establish a workshop. The training which is carried out for 10 days is expected to provide sufficient knowledge and skills for the community to know the various problems that often occur in vehicles around the community. Five days are used to study the theory and material about automotive, while the next five days are used for the practice period. After being declared eligible and passing, the community will be given capital to establish a workshop by providing tools such as compressors, vehicle engine scanners, various keys, and other workshop equipment.
The automotive training provided is divided into automotive training for car workshops and motorcycle workshops. The training participants are divided into several groups and each group will study one of the car workshops and motorcycle workshops. So that after completing the training program, they will be able to open a car or motorcycle workshop according to the skills they have mastered and assisted by the local government regarding capital to open a workshop. Be it teenagers, women, and men, they are equipped with automotive knowledge and skills as well as capital that is adjusted to the amount needed to open a workshop business.
The hope of the local government is that such automotive training can open up new jobs and create new entrepreneurs in the automotive sector spread throughout the South West Papua Province. The community hopes that the training program will continue every year and not only automotive training is carried out, but training in other fields that can improve the family economy in the community. The provision of capital from the regional government is also expected to be monitored regarding its use in a transparent manner so that the capital is indeed used to support the business results of the training in this case the capital for the workshop is really used to open a workshop business and all the necessary needs are met from the amount of capital provided by the regional government.
