Ahead of the Simultaneous General Election for Regional Heads which will be held throughout Indonesia in November 2024, the survey organizing body is starting to find out about many things from the public. Including Central Papua Province which will hold the Regional Head Election for the first time including the Governor election after this province was inaugurated as a New Autonomous Region. Surveys conducted by private bodies not only find out what the chances of a candidate winning the election are, but also find out how the public thinks about the upcoming general election. People in Central Papua Province were asked about several things including the extent to which they understood that a general election would be held and whether they would exercise their right to vote or not.

The survey regarding the general election of regional heads in Central Papua has a target of Indonesian citizens who live and are domiciled in Central Papua Province and are at least 17 years old when the general election takes place, which automatically means that they as respondents have the right to vote to elect the appropriate regional head. with their hopes. One of those who conducted the survey was the Etos Institute which conducted a survey of approximately 700 respondents in Central Papua.

Etos Institute successfully carried out the survey with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of only 2%. The survey carried out included whether the public knew that there would be simultaneous regional head elections held throughout Indonesia, including Central Papua Province, whether the public would exercise their right to vote in the next general election, whether the public knew who the regional head candidates were or in this case the Provincial Governor candidates. Central Papua will advance in the election, as well as the name of the candidate for Governor of Central Papua Province who will be chosen later.

The results of a survey carried out by the Etos Institute, namely on the question of whether the public knew that there would be simultaneous regional head elections held throughout Indonesia, including Central Papua Province, resulted in more than half of the respondents knowing that there would be simultaneous regional head elections, namely around 56%. Then, the number of people who did not know that there would be simultaneous regional head elections was 31%. Meanwhile, the remaining 13% of respondents did not answer this question.

The next question regarding whether the public will use their right to vote in the next general election has the result that 52% of the total number of respondents will use their right to vote, the rest will not use their right to vote, namely 32% and the remaining 15% did not answer whether they will use their right to choose or not. Then, for the question about whether the public knows who the regional head candidates are or in this case the candidates for Governor of Central Papua Province who will run in the election, the result is that 91% of respondents know the names of those who will take part in the general election and run for Governor, while the rest do not know these names.

Please note, there are several names who will take part in the general election for Governor in Central Papua Province. Among others is the Regent of Dogiyai Regency, namely Yakobus Dumupa. Another candidate is Deputy Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Wembi Wetipo. To answer the last question, namely what name will be the candidate for Governor of Central Papua Province who will be chosen later, the result is that Yakobus Dumupa is more favored by a narrow margin than his competitor, namely Wembi Wetipo.
