FREEPORT HOLDS FREE CATARACT SURGERY IN MIMIKA

TimikaPT. Freeport Indonesia is holding free cataract operations for at least 45 people in Mimika Regency, Central Papua ahead of the company’s 57th anniversary on April 7 2024.

The company itself has collaborated with the Amungme Kamoro Community Development Foundation (YPMAK) to provide health services and cataract surgery.

President Director of PT. Freeport Indonesia, Tony Wenas, with this cataract surgery movement, people can be free from problems that interfere with their eyesight. He also added that education and health are important components in society that are interrelated.

He also said that Freeport Indonesia will continue to be committed to providing health services as part of social service. Tony also said that this movement was not only aimed at the 7 tribes in the district, but also applied to all Mimika residents.

“It is hoped that cataract operations will continue to be carried out from today until April 7 2024 and will be successful,” he said.

“People can see their activities more clearly, so there are no eye problems,” said Tony in his speech at the Mitra Masyarakat Hospital (RSMM), in Timika on Friday (05/04/2024).

Tony explained that the mining company will continue to uphold its commitment to contribute to communities in mining areas. So that people can be helped and reduce their burden. Because for Tony, health and education are very important and interrelated, Tony as President Director will lead the company to become a company that cares about health and education services for the Papuan people, especially in Timika, Mimika Regency, Central Papua.

The community welcomed this activity with open arms and really welcomed the action carried out by PT. Freeport Indonesia is eradicating cataracts in the Mimika area. From this movement, the community and Freeport Indonesia continue to have good relations, especially as Tony’s closeness to the community makes the community very happy with the positive activities carried out by Freeport Indonesia to welcome its 57th anniversary.
