Third year of operation, Papua Football Academy expands its wings through cooperation with foreign academies

PAPUA – Now entering its third year, Papua Football Academy opens up the possibility of working with elite soccer academies in Europe. Established on August 31, 2022, Papua Football Academy (PFA) has now begun to foster the third batch of students.

Graduates of the first batch of PFA have now been channeled to a number of Elite Pro Academy League 1 clubs and academies in Java. Big dreams certainly arise from this positive development. One of those dreams is the path that is open for PFA students to be recruited by overseas clubs.

Claus Wamafma, Director & Executive Vice President of Sustainable Development of PT Freeport Indonesia who gives full support to PFA, revealed this dream. “Entering the third year of PFA’s operations, there is already cooperation with academies in Asia such as in South Korea with the Kwangdong Football Academy,” was Claus’ written response to Bolasport.com’s question about the possibility of PFA working with elite soccer academies in Europe through the strong international network of PT Freeport Indonesia (PT FI).

*This does not rule out the possibility that in the coming years the PFA is ready to expand its wings to elite academies in Europe.” On a separate occasion when meeting directly with the media including Bolasport.com in Tembagapura on Wednesday (23/10/2024), Claus Wamafma provided further answers. “I like the idea of cooperation between the PFA and European academies,” Claus said.
