Papua Men’s Volleyball Team Wins in Inaugural Match of Kapolri Cup 2024

JAYAPURA – The Papua Regional Police (Polda) held the National Volleyball Championship Zone VII Eastern Region to compete for the 2024 Kapolri Cup, at the Cenderawasih Sports Building (GOR), Jayapura, on August 21-25. Deputy Chief of Police of Papua Brigadier General Patrige Rudolf Renwarin said that this event is also a forum to find young athletes and to improve the achievements of volleyball athletes in Papua Province.

The Papua Men’s Volleyball Team overcame the Maluku Men’s Volleyball Team in the inaugural match of the 2024 Zone VII Chief of Police Volleyball Tournament with a 3:1 victory.

The match was very exciting, although the Papua Men’s Volleyball team had a 2-0 lead, but the Maluku Men’s Volleyball Team had stolen points in the 3rd set and had to recognize the superiority of the Papua Men’s Volleyball Team in the 4th set. The match ended with the victory of the Papua Men’s Volleyball Team.

Both teams played their best from the start to the end of the match, so the match, which was held at 17.00 WIT, was very tense.

The Chief of Police Volleyball Tournament 2024 Zone VII was officially opened by Deputy Chief of Police of Papua Brigadier General Patrige Renwarin at GOR Cendrawasih Jayapura City, August 21, 2024. For Zone VII, Papua, West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku will participate.

“The Zone 7 Kapolri Cup Volleyball Tournament, which includes Papua, West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku, is centered in the Papua Police Jurisdiction,” said Deputy Chief of Police Patrige Renwarin.

He explained that the Kapolri Cup Volleyball tournament will be held every year, it is hoped that it can contribute to publishing and popularizing Volleyball athletes, especially in Papua, to be able to engage in National Volleyball Sports.

“This match will take place for the next 4 days and is open to the public / free. For that the people of Jayapura City can come to watch it,” he added.

Daily Chairman of Pengprov PBVSI Papua, Kombes Pol Abrianto Pardede added, the Kapolri Cup Volleyball tournament is the second time. The first was held in West Kalimantan and won the rotating trophy of the Kapolri Cup is the West Kalimantan Men’s and Women’s Volleyball team.

“For this year, if those who succeed in winning the rotating trophy of the Kapolri Cup will host the match next year, starting from the opening to the final party,” explained Kombes Pardede. He added, Papua Police was included in zone 7, namely Papua, West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku.

“In this tournament the West Papua, Maluku and North Maluku Police did not bring in the women’s team, so the Papua Women’s Volleyball Team will immediately enter the last 16. And the match will take place in Gresik,” he concluded.
