National Sports Week XXI, Papua Mountains Women’s Football wins bronze medal

PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – The Papua Mountains National Sports Week Women’s Football Team won the bronze medal of the National Sports Week or the XXI Aceh – North Sumatra 2024 National Sports Week after defeating the Bangka Belitung team with a score of 1-0 in a match at the Mini Pancing Stadium in Deli Serdang, North Sumatra and however, the Papua Mountains National Sports Week Men’s Football Team failed to win the XXI National Sports Week medal.

The winning goal for the Papua Mountains National Sports Week Football Team was scored by Rulin Aspalek in the 76th minute. The 1-0 advantage for the Papua Mountains team lasted until the game ended, so they won the bronze medal of the XXI National Sports Week.

The gold medal in the women’s soccer match number of the XXI National Sports Week was won by the West Java team, they defeated the Jakarta team with a score of 3-0 in the final on Saturday. Team manager, Issan Sambur is grateful for the achievements of the Papua National Sports Week Women’s Football Team and is happy that his team won the bronze medal of the XXI National Sports Week, “Although we are a new province we can achieve our best results, all of this is thanks to the prayers and support of all parties, as well as the enthusiasm of all players,” said Issan Sambur.

Captain of the Papua Mountains National Sports Week Women’s Football Team, Regina Wonda said her team presented the bronze medal of the XXI National Sports Week to the people of Papua Mountains, “Maybe that’s all we can give to all the people in Papua Mountains,” said Wonda.

Coach Priagung Dani Atmojo said he was grateful for the achievement and hoped that the Provincial Association of the Indonesian Football Association of Papua Mountains would follow up on the achievement by carrying out serious coaching of women’s soccer in Papua Mountains, “The Provincial Association of the Indonesian Football Association of Papua Mountains must pick up the ball, because the potential of children for women’s soccer is quite promising and all that remains is a better preparation period. I think that can answer the achievements to be achieved,” said Priagung.

The Papua Mountains National Sports Week Men’s Football Team could not fulfill the achievements of Regina Wonda and friends. The Papua Mountains National Sports Week Men’s Football Team stopped in the quarter-finals of the XXI National Sports Week and they were defeated by the South Kalimantan team on penalties.

Playing at the H Dimurthala Stadium in Aceh, the Papua Mountains National Sports Week Men’s Football Team fell behind after South Kalimantan’s Muhammad Said scored in the first half. Coach of the Papua Mountains Men’s Football Team, Aples Tecuari apologized to all the people in the Papua Mountains because his team failed to win a medal at the XXI National Sports Week, “All players played well throughout the match, I am still proud of this achievement. As a new province, we can enter the top eight,” said Aples.
