LANNY JAYA, PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – The district association of the Indonesian Football Association Lanny Jaya will organize the Lanny Jaya cup 1 2024 soccer tournament in Tiom, the capital of Lanny Jaya Regency, this was stated by Vinsen Yigibalom, chairman of the Lanny Jaya Askab soccer tournament organizing committee in 2024, Tuesday (9/7/2024). “In the near future we will hold a soccer match. Men and women. Starting last Monday, we have opened registration,” said Vinsen.
Registration is open at the secretariat of the PSSI Lanny Jaya Regency Association in Tiom until closed July 11 before the technical meeting. “The match will be centered in Tiom, and the participants we invite are representatives of 10 districts from 39 districts in Lanny Jaya district. Male and female teams from 10 parent districts please participate,” said Vinsen.
In this tournament, his party sets several mandatory provisions for each team, such as player age restrictions, the men’s team is limited to the age of birth from 2003 to 2008 because the purpose of this event is also used for the selection of Lanny Jaya players in order to participate in the Papua Governor’s Cup tournament in the mountains at the end of August or early September 2024 in Wamena and while for the free women’s team from 10 parent districts plus the PKK team and one Joint Women’s Organization team, while for men there will be two teams of OPD representatives and the Lanny Jaya council secretariat. “This tournament is a selection event as well as competing for the first Askab PSSI Lanny Jaya trophy.”
For this reason, Vinsen hopes for the support of the Regional Government because this is certain for him because the acting Regent of Lanny Jaya, Alpius Yigibalom, pays enough attention to support every effort to unite young people through various activities, including soccer tournaments.
Vincen also asked each manager and coach to prepare the best team to appear in the tournament. “Surely there is a monitoring team, and good players will be noted by name, then called to join so that they can start training together before playing at the provincial level,” said Vincen.
Meanwhile, Jekson Fredi Weya, secretary of the Lanny Jaya PSSI Regency Association, stated that the soccer tournament plan will indeed be held for the first time in Tiom, so that the Regency Government will also pay serious attention to facilitating it.
In addition to the search for superior seeds in the field of soccer, the goal is to send Lanny Jaya ambassadors in the Papua Mountains governor’s cup and of course there are many other events that will be followed. Therefore, the tournament must be held.
Fredi suggested that the committee could organize the tournament with a full sense of responsibility as well as being obliged to maintain order and security during the tournament. “The Askab management asks for active participation from 39 district heads to make this tournament a success, because the tournament to be held is a means for young people to develop their talents in playing football,” he said.
