South Papua Province, This is the tribe and uniqueness of the Papuan people

SOUTH PAPUA – Still in the introduction of the province of southern papua, this time some introduction of tribes in the province of southern papua

Tribes in South Papua Province

There are several tribes that occupy the territory of South Papua Province or known as the Anim Ha customary area. However, many Papuans more often call it Bumi Anim Ha or the land of true humans. To enter this region there is one airport that can be used, namely Mopah Airport in Merauke.

When visiting the place, friends will be welcomed by the Marind Anim tribe who are also the host tribe. The Marind Anim tribe has seven major clans, Gebze, Kaize, Samkakai, Ndiken, Mahuze, Balagaize, and Basik-basik. Being the host tribe in South Papua Province, this tribe still has a strong belief in Dema, which is a term for spirits that are believed to incarnate anything in nature. It is this belief that makes the Marind Anim people highly respect the nature around them.

The Marind Anim live by farming and hunting. They love to consume sago and can process it into various types of food. In addition, there is also the Asmat tribe that lives in the South Papua Province. This tribe is famous for its various unique wood carvings, and this tribe is divided into two, namely those who live on the coast and live inland.

Although still one tribe, with different places to live, there are certainly many differences in the way of life and social structure. The Asmat tribe that lives on the coast is divided into two tribal parts, namely the Bisman tribe between the Sinestu River and the Nin River, then there is the Simai tribe. The greatness of the Asmat tribe is the ability to make carvings without the help of sketches, even making carvings has become a normal job for them.

All tribes in the province of southern Papua will remain alive and eternal in daily life without reducing or adding to the way they behave towards their respective tribes.
