Jayapura – In order to celebrate the 78th Oeang Day of the Republic of Indonesia (HORI), the Ministry of Finance One Papua in collaboration with Rumah Bakau Jayapura held a mangrove tree planting and social service activity at Ciberi Beach Jayapura. The event was attended by the local community and a number of officials from the Ministry of Finance One Papua, who together planted 200 mangrove trees.
In addition to tree planting, this activity also included the distribution of basic necessities to residents in need, as a form of social care and an effort to preserve the environment. The Head of Representative of Kemenkeu Satu Papua, Kristin Anindya Puspitasari, stated that this activity not only aims to celebrate HORI, but also to raise public awareness of the importance of maintaining mangrove ecosystems. “By planting mangroves, we contribute to climate change mitigation and coastline protection,” she said.
Local residents welcomed this initiative, which is considered beneficial for the environment and the community. This activity is expected to be the first step for sustainable environmental programs in the future. Kemenkeu Satu Papua and Rumah Bakau Jayapura are committed to continue conducting similar activities to support environmental sustainability and improve the welfare of communities in Papua.
