Dolanan Jadoel Parade Invites Elementary Students to Play Wenga Papua to Egrang

Traditional games are one of the cultural elements that must be preserved and introduced to the community from an early age. However, along with the times, the existence of traditional games began to erode with the existence of modern games that appear today.

In order to preserve these traditional games, Bimasakti Peduli Negeri Foundation invited 130 students of SDN Claket, Pacet, Mojokerto to hold Dolanan Jadoel Parade.

Rifqy Faruq, as the person in charge of the activity, said that the Dolanan Jadoel Parade was organized as an effort to preserve the culture of traditional games. In addition, Rifqy said that traditional games can also improve students’ cooperation and interaction.

“So we introduce these games to children, so that the noble values do not fade and children do not only enjoy traditional games only through their parents’ stories,” Rifqy said.

In this activity, Rifqy collaborated with the community of Kampung Dolanan Surabaya. A variety of traditional games were played including wenga papua, Surabaya corporal, traditional arrows, jump rope, bamboo rope egrang, bekel ball, hulahop, bamboo egrang and others.

“Dolanan Jadoel Parade is played with a game circuit system using 6 posts. The goal is that everyone in the group will be able to experience playing 6 traditional games that have been determined by Mustofa, founder of Kampung Dolanan,” he said.

Through the Dolanan Jadoel Parade, his party will also create a dolanan corner in the environment area of SDN Claket. The dolanan corner, which will be named Pojok Dolanan Bimasakti, is part of the program’s sustainability so that children do not just ceremonially play traditional games.

“So this can make a habit of playing traditional games at school. With the Dolanan Corner in their school, they can keep playing traditional games and teachers can also make the dolanan corner as an educational medium for learning at school,” he hoped.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Iqbal, one of the students, said he was happy with this activity. Iqbal said, if this was the first experience for him in playing traditional games.

“Very happy, the activities are also exciting, because there are several games that have never been played such as archery, Papuan wenga, Surabaya corporal. We can also work together with other friends,” he concluded.
