TIMIKA – A total of 36,308 General Election Commission (KPU) and Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) officers received Social Security Organizing Agency (BPJS) Employment guarantees from the Central Papua Provincial Government.

BPJS employment was symbolically given by the Acting Governor of Central Papua, Ribka Haluk, to 36,308 KPU and Bawaslu officers of Central Papua Province, who will carry out the upcoming 2024 election.

The activity took place at the launching of BPJS employment for 23,785 vulnerable workers, especially indigenous Papuans (OAP) in Central Papua Province, which is packaged in the “Kitong Kerja Aman” card, the submission of BPJS Employment for KPU and Bawaslu officers in Central Papua Province totaling 36,308 people, as well as education and inauguration (Diklat) employment for 500 OAP workforce in Central Papua Province.

Ribka said that the employment social security program is a form of government commitment to overcome social risks in the event of work accidents, death, retirement, and termination of employment (PHK) which results in loss of income.

According to him, this employment social security can prevent the increase of new poverty rates. This program can also stimulate the growth of the national economy that continues to create opportunities and employment, resulting in an increase in income.

“As a basis for the implementation of this employment program, the Central Papua Provincial Government has issued Governor Regulation No. 44 of 2023 concerning the implementation of the employment social security program for wage earners, construction services, non-wage earners and religious workers in this area,” said Ribka.

She emphasized that all people in Central Papua must be protected through the BPJS Employment program, both workers in the formal and informal sectors. With this program, it is hoped that all workers in 8 districts in Central Papua Province can live calmly and look to the future with more confidence.

“This is our commitment to ensure every worker has proper social protection, building a strong foundation for progress together,” she explained.

She also expressed his appreciation to BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for supporting this program in order to guarantee and provide work accident insurance (JKK) and death insurance (JKM) services, especially to vulnerable workers as well as KPU and Bawaslu officers in the 2024 Pilkada.

“We not only pay attention to the existing workforce, but also to job seekers or the OAP special labor force, in order to reduce unemployment. Where through the Department of Labor, Transmigration and E-SDM provides training to 500 OAP workforce, so that a ready-made workforce can be created and can be absorbed by other industrial and private sectors,” she explained.

Through the employment program, Ribka hopes that it can be a stimulus for regional economic growth and continue to create opportunities and employment, so that it has an impact on increasing people’s income.

“I hope that my children who will take part in the training will really learn, so that later they can apply it both as a worker and independently in entrepreneurship,” she explained.
