Pilkada 2024, Papua Police Affirm to Remain Neutral

Jayapura – Papua Police is committed to being neutral and not conducting practical political activities during the stages of the Papua Regional Election in 2024.

This was conveyed by the Papua Police Chief through the Head of Papua Police Public Relations who is also the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Mantap Praja Cartenz (OMPC) II 2024 Papua Region Kombes Pol Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, Saturday (26/10/2025).

“The National Police is committed to being neutral and not involved in practical political activities,” said the Head of Papua Police Public Relations.

The Head of Public Relations emphasized that the neutrality of the Polri in the 2024 Election has been regulated in Law Number 2 of 2022 concerning the Indonesian National Police Article 28 paragraph (1) which states that the Polri must be neutral in political life and not be involved in practical politics.

“In paragraph (2), the Polri are also not allowed to exercise the right to vote and be elected,” he said.

Based on Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Professional Code of Ethics and the Police Code of Ethics Commission, the sanctions given to members of the Police will be adjusted to the violation or action taken.

“We also ask all people, especially in Papua Province and 3 DOBs, to continue to support the police in guarding the democratic party in order to create a safe and conducive kamtibmas situation,” he concluded.
