Mimika Muslim Leader Says Moral Leaders Are Needed to Lead a Region

Papua, Timika – Ustadz Joko Prianto, a Muslim figure in Mimika Regency, Central Papua, reminded the public of the importance of choosing leaders with morals and a good track record. This statement was made to reporters in Timika, Saturday (19/10).

According to Ustadz Joko, morality is an important part because it will give an idea of the prospective leader whether he can be trustworthy, can be trusted, and can be a role model. Because he said, moral leaders are needed to lead an area like Mimika with a population of more than 300 thousand people supported by a fantastic APBD.

“If he does not have morals, he will abuse the authority he has. For example, if he is unfair to his people or uses the budget arbitrarily, it could be to enrich himself and his family or his group. So these morals are very important for us in determining a leader,” he said.

Furthermore, a leader who can provide benefits to all people, not just to one particular group, is expected. “Then, who can cooperate with their supporters, both the community, political parties and existing figures,” said Ustad Joko.

“Because to lead a district, we must choose people who have experience, because they will understand the problems that exist in the district,” he continued.

Ustad Joko ensures that all of these important criteria are in candidate pair number 1 Johannes Rettob – Emanuel Kemong or JOEL “We feel that the criteria I mentioned are in JOEL. You can see for yourself how these two candidates have performed so far, and that must be recognized and the whole community must know,” he concluded.
