KPK encourages acceleration of integrated corruption prevention program in South Papua

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) through the Deputy for Coordination and Supervision held a coordination meeting on the monitoring of thematic corruption prevention programs with local government officials in South Papua Province. The activity held in the Cazoary Room of Halogen Hotel, Merauke Regency focused on improving the governance of the South Papua Provincial Government.

KPK Deputy Chairman Alexander Marwata in his speech said that South Papua Province as a result of expansion must pay attention to the welfare of the community in all sectors, with the aim of accelerating equitable development, improving public services, and elevating the dignity of indigenous Papuans.

“Through this activity, the KPK encourages the South Papua Provincial Government to continue to accelerate integrated corruption prevention programs in all districts in South Papua. Mainly related to solving regional governance problems that are carried out massively and facilitated, to realize Bumi Cendrawasih and a prosperous Papuan people,” said Alex.

He detailed the 4 low achievement indices, starting from the weak APIP supervision system with an average index of 44% caused by two indicators including the unfilled position of Inspector and Irbansus which caused weak supervision when there were allegations of irregularities in the provincial government, as well as the lack of probity audit efforts related to regional strategic projects.

For this reason, KPK encourages follow-up on areas of improvement to improve APIP capabilities in the South Papua Provincial Government, to provide references to improve the same APIP competency standards throughout South Papua Province as a follow-up to supervision so that they are appropriate and there are no gaps or disparities in technical competence.

“The lack of PBJ progress with an average achievement of 52%, causes the South Papua Provincial Government to not fulfill the regional commitment to the optimization of the level of domestic components (TKDN), as has been encouraged by the central government. This effort must certainly be accelerated for equitable development and economic growth of the people of South Papua,” said Alex.

On the same occasion, Acting Governor of South Papua Rudy Sufahriadi also expressed his gratitude for the presence of the KPK in monitoring the thematic program of asset control and regional tax revenue. For this reason, as a regional official, he encouraged regional officials to work together with the KPK to improve the governance of South Papua Province.

Through these efforts, he also emphasized that all OPDs and District Governments are jointly committed to fixing governance problems and shortcomings that will have an impact on regional development. Even with the encouragement given by the KPK, it is hoped that it can lead to changes in the better governance of the South Papua Provincial Government, in order to realize the improvement of people’s welfare.
