Hundreds of Personnel Deployed, Secure Pilkada Registration Stages in Southwest Papua

SORONG – West Papua Police Chief Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, S.I.K., M.T.C.P. visited the Southwest Papua General Election Commission (KPU) office in Sorong City. The visit was to ensure the readiness of related agencies in the registration of candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Southwest Papua in 2024.

Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Mantap Praja Mansinam II in the Southwest Papua Province Kombes Pol. Ongky Isgunawan, S.I.K. said that the Kapolda checked and ensured the readiness of the PBD KPU to enter the registration of candidates for governor and deputy governor.

Where, as many as 622 police personnel were deployed to secure the registration of candidates for governor and deputy governor of Southwest Papua.

“The West Papua Police Chief wants to ensure that all stages of the simultaneous elections run peacefully, smoothly and democratically. Therefore, the Kapolda checked the KPU office of Southwest Papua Province,” said Kombes Pol. Ongky.

Registration of candidates for Governor and Deputy Governor of Southwest Papua will be held from August 27 to 29, 2024. Starting Tuesday (27/8/2024) the security forces have been assigned to secure the registration process.

“We are tightening security around the KPU, not only in the province but also later in all district and city KPU offices. I also appeal to community leaders, religious leaders, and elements of society to participate in maintaining public security so that the 2024 election stages can run safely and peacefully,” concluded Kombes Pol. Ongky.
