GOVERNMENT SUPPORTS THE FORMATION OF A SPECIAL COMMITTEE FOR THE PAPUAN ELECTIONS

JAYAPURA – Acting Governor of Papua, Ramses Limbong said that the Papuan People’s Assembly (MRP) is a strategic partner in all aspects of Papua Province development. Especially in the success of the Simultaneous Regional Head Election (Pilkada) in November 2024.

“MRP is a strategic partner of the provincial government. MRP is a representation of the Papuan people, we are also a container of the Papuan people with their respective duties and responsibilities,” said Ramses Limbong after attending a meeting of MRP Chairmen and Members, Thursday (22/8/2024).

Therefore, said Limbong, with collaboration and synergy together we can realize safe, peaceful and dignified elections. “So we will continue to collaborate together to build Papua and synergy is needed to achieve it all,” he said.

In addition, other discussions related to the construction of the MRP office and budget support for the formation of the MRP Special Committee (Pansus).

“I have seen this MRP building, it does need repairs and additional budget. We have budgeted in the revised APBD, but not all. Later we will budget for 2025,” he said.

“Including urgent needs and priority scales, also the support of the election committee must be implemented. Whatever is done if it is for the main task, we try to support, of course with a priority scale,” he continued.

Chairman of the Papua MRP Nerlince Wamuar Rollo said that the task of his institution in the implementation of Pilkada is to give consideration, approval and recommend that the candidates for governor and deputy governor are Indigenous Papuans (OAP).

While the Chairman of the Papua MRP, Nerlince Wamuar Rollo revealed that he had formed a Special Committee on Pilkada for candidates for governor and deputy governor of Papua.

This special committee needs a budget to give consideration, approval and recommend candidates for governor and deputy governor who deserve to lead in Papua.

“This Special Committee on Pilkada requires a budget of Rp. 2 billion for only one candidate, but do not know in the future it will develop because of the Constitutional Court’s decision. The budget is for verification of requirements and factual down to the field for candidates for governor of Papua later,” said Nerlince.
