General Election Commission asks citizens to provide accurate data in 2024 regional head elections

JAYAPURA, PAPUA – The General Election Commission of Jayapura Regency, Papua asked the community to support voter data updating officers by providing accurate data and a number of 532 voter data updating officers who have been on duty since June 24, and will end on July 24, 2024 visiting residents’ homes, this was conveyed by the Chairman of the Jayapura Regency General Election Commission Efra J. Tunya.

Efra said that the community must be actively involved in the success of the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Head Elections by providing accurate data to the voter data update, “the community must participate in the matching and research stages of the simultaneous coklit by voter data update officers by visiting people’s homes one by one,” he said.

Community support includes providing population documents in the form of:

  1. Identity Card (KTP),
  2. Family Card (KK),
  3. Population Biodata.

“So, when the voter data update comes, people don’t need to ask anything, they just need to see their identification so that it can facilitate their task,” he said.

In this stage, the community will get proof of coklit marks from updating voter data in the form of stickers attached to the house, we hope that the coklit stage can run well, and every citizen in Jayapura Regency is registered to vote on Wednesday, November 27, 2024,” he said.

That the number of polling stations  in Jayapura Regency is 326 spread across 139 villages and five villages and at the coklit stage all local residents can give their political rights in the Jayapura Regent and Deputy Regent Elections, so that the democratic party in this area runs properly.

The following is the schedule of the 2024 Regional Head Election stages:

  1. February 27 – November 16, 2024: Notification and registration of election observers,
  2. April 24-May 31, 2024: Submission of the list of potential voters,
  3. May 5 – August 19, 2024: Fulfillment of support requirements for individual candidate pairs,
  4. May 31-September 23, 2024: Updating and compilation of voter lists,
  5. August 24-26, 2024: Announcement of candidate pair registration,
  6. August 27-29, 2024: Registration of candidate pairs,
  7. August 27 – September 21, 2024: Research of candidate requirements,
  8. On September 22, 2024: Determination of candidate pairs,
  9. September 25 – November 23, 2024: Implementation of the campaign,
  10. November 27, 2024: Implementation of voting,
  11. November 27 – December 16, 2024: Vote counting and recapitulation of results.
