Delivery of Social Security for General Election Commission Officers and General Election Supervisory Body in Central Papua Province

Any job certainly has unexpected risks that accompany it. All of these risks lead to reduced or even lost livelihoods and income. Every job in the formal and informal fields certainly has the same risk. Therefore, social security needs to be provided by the government to guarantee that every worker has the right to be able to avoid and overcome all risks encountered while carrying out their work. In Indonesia, social security has a name, namely the Social Security Administering Body. There are various forms, including social security which takes care of employment matters and also social security which helps people in the health sector.

All provinces in Indonesia will hold regional general elections simultaneously in November. Some jobs will also have quite a heavy workload. Risks also accompany workers such as those who work at the General Election Commission and the General Election Supervisory Body. Workers in these two institutions must have high focus in order to avoid all the risks that accompany carrying out their work in preparing for General Elections in accordance with statutory procedures. It is hoped that the General Election will run smoothly. One thing that can facilitate the work of workers who take care of General Elections is by providing social security to them. The reason is of course because when all matters are guaranteed, including the risks that accompany them, workers no longer have fear when facing risks in carrying out their work.

The Regional Government of Central Papua Province is paying close attention to the risks that may occur to members of the General Election Commission and the General Election Supervisory Body of Central Papua Province ahead of the Simultaneous Regional Head Election at the end of 2024. In fact, the regional government is committed to providing social security to all parties working together to realize an ideal General Election. Therefore, through the Governor of Central Papua, Ribka Haluk, the regional government provides social security in the form of a Social Security Administering Agency Card.

The number of workers who receive social security is around 36,000. This number consists of members of the General Election Commission, members of the General Election Supervisory Board, and also Indigenous Papuans who are involved as a workforce who assist with the task of carrying out the General Election. The two things that are guaranteed in providing this assistance are Work Accident Insurance and Death Insurance. So that all workers in 8 districts in Central Papua Province can feel safe from all risks when carrying out their respective duties.

The hope of the Regional Government of Central Papua Province is of course that the simultaneous Regional Head Election which will take place does not pose any risks that could threaten workers who help each other in carrying out their duties. The social security provided can also provide guarantees to the community in giving their voting rights and placing themselves in politics in the future.
