SUPIORI – Acting Governor of Papua Ramses Limbong assesses the tourism potential of Supiori Regency, which is very promising if managed properly. He believes that Supiori’s tourism sector will contribute a very large regional original income (PAD) because it has stunning coastal beauty.
“I see the potential for PAD here in tourism. Now, we have to find the formula so that the stakeholders in this district have creative innovations.”
“As I said earlier to the Secretary (Supiori) to make something grand design, if we make this, it will be good. Moreover, Supiori has a good destination. We take an example of why Hawaii can do it, we certainly can,” explained Acting Limbong during a working visit to Supiori Regency, Papua, Wednesday (4/9/2024).
The Governor was accompanied by the Head of TP PKK Papua, Mrs. Kerdina Ramses Limbong and a number of OPD Heads. He said, Supiori is currently the district with the smallest area in Indonesia, as well as its minimal APBD. However, the 1990 AKABRI alumni is optimistic, Supiori in the future can develop and advance like other regions.
“It all comes back to the human culture. We can learn from Bali or like Hawaii how they revive the tourism sector for their PAD. Then the second is how we prepare proper infrastructure, so as to attract visitors (tourists) who will come here,” said Limbong. Meanwhile, to increase investment in an area, he added, creativity and innovation from the regional head and OPD are needed.
“The key is creativity and innovation. If that is not there, then any support will not work. So there needs to be unity of heart and word from the stakeholders. If it is not the same, it will definitely be chaotic, and it will have an impact on society.”
“So I said earlier that people choose leaders who can really lead, have innovation and creativity to build their regions,” he said. The visit of the Pj Governor of Papua’s entourage to Supiori, with regard to fostering the implementation of government and preparing for the 2024 Simultaneous Regional Elections. Supiori became the first district outside of Jayapura City and Regency, in the Papua Province region, which was visited by the Deputy Governor of Papua.
During his visit, the Governor of Papua and his entourage provided direct motivation to the SKPD in Supiori Regency, to increase creativity and innovation that had an impact on increasing local PAD.
Furthermore, during this visit, the Pj Governor of Papua and the Pj Chairperson of TP PKK gave Polio PINs to representatives of children in Supiori, as well as handed over social assistance and had a face-to-face meeting with the Supiori Regency SKPD.
