The Regional Government of South West Papua Province initiated the acceleration of economic development to further advance the welfare of the people in the province. Economic acceleration requires many parties to collaborate with each other in realizing its programs. In order to realize the acceleration of economic development, there needs to be synergy with parties who have interests in the economic sector such as banks. Therefore, the Regional Government of South West Papua Province collaborated with Bank Indonesia to hold activities that can increase economic education for the community, including for officials in the regional government.
The activities that were then created were a series of events called Cendekia Week 2024. Cendekia Week is an event carried out through cooperation between the Regional Government of South West Papua Province and Bank Indonesia. The purpose of this event is to carry out socialization through an open forum regarding economic programs owned by Bank Indonesia in relation to the national strategy for inclusive finance as stated in Presidential Regulation Number 14 of 2020 which discusses how it is necessary to increase public access to financial services in order to realize community welfare. The synergy between the regional government and Bank Indonesia is the key to realizing Cendekia Week which is expected to be able to become an economic literacy program for the community. The theme raised in Cendekia Week 2024 is the challenges and strategies to encourage public financial literacy as the foundation of public finance towards an advanced and prosperous South West Papua. Meanwhile, the Cendekia Week event has its own tagline, namely smart financial literacy, encouraging the economy, and inclusive finance in South West Papua. Several series of events held during Cendekia Week 2024 include talk shows, business matching, and also a financial literacy survey.
Economic literacy, especially regarding inclusive finance, is an important topic of discussion at Cendekia Week 2024. The talk show held on this matter also invited several speakers with their respective backgrounds of expertise and professions such as practitioners, regulators, and also from the banking sector. Inclusive Finance is an important step in the fight against poverty and plays a role in encouraging economic meetings, creating financial system stability, and reducing disparities between individuals and between regions.
The hope from the implementation of Cendekia Week 2024 is that the people in South West Papua Province understand how the economic system, namely inclusive finance, makes it easier to access financial services, including banking services. The literacy socialized during the event is also expected to increase knowledge for all parties who have a common interest in realizing the welfare of the community in the Province of South West Papua. The continuation of the Cendekia Week event in the future is also the hope of all parties so that there is control regarding the effectiveness of the event carried out whether it can be implemented properly by all parties who need to synergize with each other in carrying out inclusive financial economic activities.
