Results of Abisai Rollo’s Meeting with Papua Road and Bridge Center Regarding Jayapura Holtekamp Street Lights

JAYAPURA, PAPUA – After directly reviewing the condition of street lights on Youtefa Bridge and Holtekamp road, Chairman of the Jayapura City Regional House of Representatives Abisai Rollo held a meeting with the Papua Provincial Road and Bridge Center in the courtroom of the Jayapura City Regional House of Representatives, Friday (05/07/2024). In this meeting, Abisai Rollo was accompanied by Commission B Chairman Yuli Rahman and Commission B Members and in addition to representatives of the Papua Province Road and Bridge Center, the Jayapura City Public Works Office of Spatial Planning Housing and Settlement Areas and PT PLN were present.

In his statement, Chairman of the Jayapura City Regional House of Representatives, Abisai Rollo explained that this was the second meeting and follow-up meeting last Wednesday regarding the issue of street lights on the Youtefa Bridge and Holtekamp road. “From this meeting the Road Hall admitted there are several things that cause these street lights not to light up and among them are lamp cables that are often stolen by people,” said Abisai Rollo.

Abisai Rollo himself was surprised because the Papua Province Road and Bridge Center admitted that until now there has been no budget to maintain a number of these facilities. “According to them, they have proposed a budget but until the last two years the budget has not yet been answered. Even now there is no budget in their DIPA to work on these street lights,” said Ondoafi Skouw Yambe.

By looking at the existing problems, the meeting finally suggested that the Papua Province Road and Bridge Center immediately make a letter of asset transfer to the Jayapura City Government. “The conclusion of today’s meeting is that the Balai must hand over these assets to the City Government because they do not have a budget and I suggest that at the latest this letter be made the day after Monday so that this problem can be resolved quickly,” he said.

Abisai Rollo also emphasized that he is ready to encourage the Jayapura City Government if the budget for improving public facilities is included in the 2024 Revised Regional Budget. “In essence, I hope that all sections of Jayapura City must be given more lighting, especially public facilities such as Youtefa Bridge, Holtekamp road and also no less important are street lights in the back lane, so that our people feel comfortable when doing activities,” said Abisai.

Head of the Preservation Section representing the Road and Bridge Center, Yohanis Rumaropen, said that his party has proposed to the center regarding the budgeting and is currently still waiting. “Regarding the decision of today’s meeting regarding the letter of transfer of assets to the City Government, in principle we will convey it, but we will coordinate with the leadership. What will be the direction and follow-up,” said the Head of the Preservation Section.
